MLHS girls tennis loses opener to Kennewick

KENNEWICK - The Moses Lake High School girls tennis team lost their season-opener to Kennewick on Tuesday, 2-5. The Chiefs doubles team of Megan Hill and Mickayla Friend battled for more than two hours to win their match 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (8-6). Hill and Friend won three key match points to remain in the match before winning in a third set tie break.

Sydney Francis, the Chiefs #4 singles, won her match 6-4, 6-3. Kylee McKay made her season debut for the Chiefs and lost in a hard fought match against a state tournament veteran.

The Chiefs travel to Lewiston on Saturday to participate in the Lewiston/Clarkson Invite.

MLHS boys struggle against Kennewick

KENNEWICK - The Moses Lake High School Boys tennis team lost their dual-match season opener in Kennewick on Tuesday, 1-6. The highlight of the match came when the boys #1 doubles team came back from behind to beat KHS' #1 doubles team. MLHS Pedro Barreras and Tyler Ward lost the first set 3-6, dominated the second 6-0 and won in a tiebreaker 11-9 to take the match. Head Coach Richard Gregoire said it was a fantastic finish.

The Chiefs singles team was unable to win a set and lost all of their matches. Gregoire credited the loss to a deep KHS team with a very strong singles line up. The Chiefs will travel to Lewiston on Saturday to participate in the Lewiston/Clarkston Invite.
