ML shooting victim expected to survive

MOSES LAKE - The man shot late Friday night at a Moses Lake home remains in the intensive care unit at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane.

The victim, whose name was not released, received a gunshot wound to the abdomen during an incident at a home on Airway Drive Northeast about 11:45 p.m. Friday. The man was found on the floor when sheriff's deputies arrived, according to previous reports.

He was initially transported to Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake and later taken to the Spokane hospital. He is reportedly heavily sedated and has been in and out of surgery all week. He is expected to survive, Chief Deputy Ryan Rectenwald said Wednesday.

Detectives will obtain a statement from the victim when he is able and investigative reports will be forwarded to the prosecutor's office for review. The sheriff's office plans to release the victim's name after he can provide a police statement, Rectenwald said.

The suspected shooter was still on scene Friday night and questioned by police. The incident is still under investigation.

Detectives believe the shooting is not gang-related.
