| March 19, 2014 6:00 AM

MOSES LAKE - Moses Lake Irrigation and Rehabilitation District directors and the board's attorney are drafting a response to the former director Mick Hansen's resignation letter.

MLIRD directors went into executive session during a special meeting Monday to discuss potential litigation regarding the claims Hansen made in his letter, according to the meeting's agenda.

Hansen, who took office in January 2012, turned in his resignation letter during a board of directors meeting last week. His term would have been up this December.

His letter cited continued concern regarding the district's current election practices and assessment methods as his reasons for leaving the board.

Following executive session, directors approved a motion for a response to Hansen's letter to be drafted and made public. Their response is expected to come within the week.
