Mary Patricia (Pat) Brown, 87, long-time resident of Coulee City, Washington, went from her home on this earth to her new home in heaven on Thursday, March 13, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Coulee City Assembly of God, 205 W. Douglas, with Pastor Allan Fox officiating. Interment will follow at Valley View Memorial Park in Soap Lake, Washington. Please sign the online guestbook or leave a note for the family at www.kayserschapel.com. Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel of Memories, Moses Lake.

Pat was born on June 6, 1926 at Wenatchee, Washington and lived on the family farm with her father, Lawrence J. Tanneberg, mother Lelia G. Tanneberg, and brother Elmo. She attended elementary school "on the hill" in a one room schoolhouse, taking 2nd and 3rd grade together in one year. High school years brought her to Coulee City where she completed her education as salutatorian of her senior class. She loved to play both singles and doubles tennis.

Pat married her high school sweetheart, Paul V. (Jack) Brown, on June 15, 1946, after Jack came home from serving three years in World War II. Jack penned a very special poem entitled "She Waited For Me" in honor of the love of his life, his "redhead", Pat. They celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary before Jack passed away in 1997.

Pat began her employment career at the Coulee City National Bank of Commerce as a teller. Always skilled with numbers, Pat became a bookkeeper for Jim Jess Implement and for her nephews' farming partnership. She prepared taxes for many local and surrounding community members, family, and friends, and built her clientele into an established business called "The Ledger Post". Pat and Jack both retired in 1984 and enjoyed many wonderful years together.

Pat loved her church family! She served as Sunday School teacher and superintendent, choir member, women's ministries member, prayer chain "caller", and as church treasurer for 37 years. As her health failed, her constant love and concern for every age remained strong. Pat also enjoyed volunteering in her beloved Coulee City community as Chamber of Commerce "caller", fireworks booth and fishing derby worker, and enjoyed helping at various Memorial Day weekend activities. She was awarded the title of "Citizen of the Year" for 2012 and was honored to ride in the Memorial Day parade.

Pat loved people! Some hobbies included: coffee and/or a meal out with Jack and just "riding around"; coffee and meals out with friends; attending school games of her beloved Warriors (formally Rams); making pillows with embroidered names for her High School graduate friends and crocheting puppy dogs to go along with $2.00 bills for her Junior High graduate friends; crocheting afghans, coasters, placemats, and snowflake Christmas tree ornaments; crafting Advent calendar kits for her daughters; reading to and playing games with her grandchildren; and any activity that meant spending time with her husband, daughters and their families.

Survivors include daughter Susan and husband Ed Leckenby of Clear Lake, Washington; grandson Stephen and wife Nita, of Bellevue, Texas; grandson John and wife Marsha of Kirkland, Washington; daughter Lori and husband Rod Ashley of Snohomish, Washington; and granddaughters Mary and Annie Ashley of Everett, Washington.
