MOSES LAKE - Moses Lake girls bowling had an exceptional season that ended with a second place finish at the district tournament.

The Chiefs were rewarded for their efforts as five bowlers were given all-conference honors, the most of any Columbia Basin Big Nine school.

"It was a great year and that's just a tribute to my coaches and stuff," head coach Billy Brice said. "We work on fundamentals and basics and fundamentally we were just sound and that's how I teach and coach."

Sophomore Kim Mulder and senior Kayla Enriquez were named to the first team, senior Kayla Steffler and junior Ashleigh Hash made the second team whole junior Mikayla Moreno made honorable mention.

That makes three returning all-conference bowlers for Moses Lake.

"We really shouldn't miss a beat other than the experience," Brice said. "Fundamentally-wise they're going to be good. If they can mentally-wise get into it and just bear down and go for it we're going to be fine. We're going to be right back up there like we always are, making a run for a state championship."

As a senior, Enriquez's work ethic really set the tone for the team.

"Kayla Enriquez, she was just a steady, solid work horse," Brice said. "I think she worked the hardest probably out of all the girls ... She did everything you could possibly ask for. Her work ethic and what she did was instrumental."

Steffler also provided leadership to the squad.

"From the time that she's been in there, you know, she's been a solid performer and was one of the leaders of the team," Brice said.
