ROYAL CITY - An elderly man received a minor wound the night of March 5 when someone fired two rounds from a shotgun into the home where he was sleeping.

Grant County Sheriff's Deputies answered a call for shots fired at 4042 Road 10.4 SW space 4 at around 10:45 p.m. Occupants of the home said two shotgun rounds were fired into the front of the home and into the kitchen.

A Hispanic male was seen running from the scene and getting into a car which sped off toward Royal City. Witnesses weren't able to describe the male or the car.

An elderly man who was sleeping in the front bedroom received a minor wound but declined medical treatment.

Deputies believe this was a targeted, gang-related shooting. The Grant County Sheriff's Gang Unit is investigating. Evidence collected at the scene will be sent to the state crime lab for analysis.
