Colleen Gaye Grimmett, 51, passed away on March 12, 2014, in Newberg, Oregon, following a lengthy illness.

Colleen was born in Blackfoot, Idaho on May 28, 1962, to Winona and the late Dell Grimmett. The family moved to Moses Lake, Washington in 1967.

Colleen graduated from Moses Lake High School in 1980. She was an honor roll student and active in debate and music, solo ensemble, and played flute and saxophone in the band.

She graduated from Big Bend Community College in 1982. She moved to Boise and graduated from B.S.U. in 1984, and received a Masters in 1996.

She worked for Micron Technology for 19 years. When that job ended she moved to Newberg, Oregon and trained to be a paralegal. She worked in a Social Security law firm. But the job she loved was at the Federal Justice Building in Portland. Doing interesting work, with people she admired and loved. She worked at the U.S.A.O. until ill health forced her to retire. She was Vice President and secretary for the Oregon Paralegal Association, with many good friends there.

She is survived by her Mother, Winona Grimmett, siblings, Kathy and Bob Gilbert, Lori and Elijah Dickson, Mike Grimmett, Michael Leighton and 29 nieces and nephews.

The family wants to thank the Marquis Rehabilitation staff for the wonderful care they gave Colleen and her family. They treated her with greatest love and respect. She loved and appreciated them all.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a humane society of your choice.

Graveside services will be on March 17, at Valley View Memorial Park, Newberg Or.
