More human remains found at Crescent Bar

| March 14, 2014 6:00 AM

CRESCENT BAR - A second set of human remains was found Friday in the Crescent Bar area exposed by the drawdown of the Columbia River.

The sheriff's office confirmed Wednesday the bones are also archaeological and similar to the bones found March 4 in the same area. Both sets of bones have been turned over to the state Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation.

Sheriff's office spokesman Kyle Foreman said it's expected several more archaeologic remains will be found in the area because of shoreline erosion that has been covered with water since the Wanapum Dam was constructed about 50 years ago.

Both sets of bones were found by people exploring sections of the shoreline that are now closed to the public.
