Rodger Lloyd Rockne, Sr.

Rodger Lloyd Rockne, Sr., 73, of Moses Lake, WA died Monday, March 3, 2014 in Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee, WA. He was born August 12, 1941 in Seattle, WA to Willard and Frances Jeanne (Befoure) Rockne.

Rodger served in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged after more than 4 years of dedicated service in February 1963. He met Debora Hodgkinson in 1984 in Windover, NV, they were married on February 20, 1985 in Reno, NV, they just celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary. In September 1987 they moved to Moses Lake, WA where they have resided since. He worked as a bartender for over 25 years, slot machine mechanic, he worked at the Country Club in Soap Lake, WA and the Columbia Basin Herald in Moses Lake. At age 50, Rodger graduated with a GED and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Business. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, hunting, camping, darts, anything outside that had to do with his family and friends, old time cars and movies. He was a member of the American Legion Post 209.

He would help anyone in need; he had a great big heart and was a very loving man. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife Debora Rockne, son Rodger L. Rockne, Jr., daughters Rachelle Akers, Paula Davis, Jennifer Hodgkinson, Rabecca Rockne and Samantha Rockne; 21 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; and one sister Lenore Pfaff.

He was preceded in death by his parents Frances Jeanne (Befoure) and Willard Rockne.

A Memorial Gathering to celebrate Rodger's life with military funeral honors by the U.S. Navy Funeral Honor Guard and the American Legion Post 209 Funeral Honor Guard, will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 15, 2014 in the Community Room in the Pioneer Village Apartments, 816 E. Sharon Ave., Moses Lake, WA 98837.
