Hansen resigns from MLIRD board

| March 12, 2014 10:02 AM

MOSES LAKE — Moses Lake Irrigation and Rehabilitation District Director Mick Hansen resigned from his position during a regularly scheduled board of directors meeting Tuesday night.

Hansen initially took office in January 2012.

In his resignation letter, Hansen mentioned a 2011 letter from the state Attorney General's office regarding the agency's opinion on votes allowed per person in the irrigation district election. He said he was unaware of this letter until a couple of months ago.

Hansen also expressed concern over the district's current assessment method.

"I cannot in good faith remain on this board knowing what I know," he wrote. "Therefore, at the adjournment of this March 11, 2014 meeting, I am resigning my position on the board."
