Shirley J. Wagner

| March 8, 2014 5:00 AM

Shirley J. Wagner, 91, a resident of Moses Lake since 1964 joined her Heavenly Father on March 4, 2014. She was born August 9, 1922 in Willmar, Minnesota to George Tucker and Gladys Rowley. She married her high school sweetheart, Ray H. Wagner, on January 15, 1943. They celebrated 63 years of marriage.

Shirley retired from the Moses Lake School District, where she had worked as a secretary at the high school. She was also a member of the Presbyterian Church, Friends of the Library, and enjoyed a weekly game of bridge with her friends.

Shirley was a proud Army wife and was always willing to sacrifice for her husband's military career. She said there was no greater honor than to serve your country. She will be buried at a later date beside her husband at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C.

Shirley loved her family and playing games with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and step-father, Elfred Robertson; husband, Ray; son and daughter-in-law Charles and Melissa Wagner; granddaughter, Kara Garbe; and sister, Maxine Brooks. She is survived by her sister, Donna Robertson of Moses Lake; brother-in-law Keith Wagner and his wife, Joyce of Gold Hill, Oregon; daughters Barbara Garbe and her husband Kerry of Moses Lake and Patrice Shay of Wenatchee; grandchildren, Scott Wagner, Danielle Garbe, BJ Garbe and his wife, Amy, Angela Skwiat and her husband Tony, Joshua Paulsen, Trevor Shay, and Justin Shay; and great-grandchildren, Cody, Mitchell, Jacob, Cole, Cooper, Cash, Payden, and Ava. Shirley also held close to her heart, several nieces and nephews.

Our family wishes to extend our gratitude to Negash and Daisy Mekonen for the compassionate and loving care they gave Shirley.
