Y.O.U. hosts auction Saturday

MOSES LAKE - Youth Outdoors Unlimited will host an annual fundraiser and auction on Saturday at the Best Western Lake Front Inn.
The group helps area youth who have physical disabilities to fulfill their dreams of hunting and fishing in wild and scenic places.
The event's purpose is to raise funds for youth hunts, which include outfitting youth with hunting or fishing supplies.
Recently the group helped Moses Lake resident Victor Garcia bag his first whitetail deer at a hunt in Elk, Wash.
Victor has cerebral palsy and was physically unable to hold or shoot a gun, much less access land where hunting would be possible. Y.O.U. helped outfit Victor, take him to private land where he was the only hunter, and allow him to shoot a deer.
"The success of a hunting or fishing adventure is not in the harvest, but in providing the youth and their families the overall hunting or fishing experience that hunters and anglers look forward to," Y.O.U. spokesperson Cindy Carpenter said.
Victor will be present at the banquet as will other recipients of Y.O.U. hunting and fishing trips. "We want the youth to share with the public what this experience meant to them;' Carpenter said.
Beginning at 4:30 p.m., the public is invited to see and silently bid on auction items. Program presentations begin at 7 p.m. and a live auction will occur at 7:30 p.m.
Prizes will also be given to attendees in the form of raffles by table. Appetizers will be available and a no-host bar will be open until 11 p.m.
