MOSES LAKE - The Moses Lake Farmers Market invited new and existing vendors to its annual Vendors Meeting on Saturday.

Market crafter and board member Melinda Henry said the event is to "get the season started." It is a chance for market organizers to meet and increase vendors, she said.

Last year, the market had at most 70 vendors on one day, Henry said, and at times as few as 20. She said there is potential for as many as 100 vendors to be present; last year 83 were signed up. And, the more vendors, the more likely patrons are to stop and spend time, and money, she said.

"Definitely, this community is full of a lot of potential," Henry said.

She said she hopes the opening of Habitat for Humanity and Jo Ann Fabric will help inspire a variety of crafts.

Henry said no new farms have sold at the market for the four years she has worked there, and has lost several.

Pumpkins, salsa, BBQ aids, fresh cut flowers and pottery would be welcome additions to the market, she said.

Henry said the meeting will cover topics including changes in city codes and summer events. She said they will elect new board members and a board president.

Board positions are two year terms.

The meeting will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Frontier Middle School. For more information, call Henry at 509-361-3703, or visit the Moses Lake Farmers Market website at www.moseslakefarmersmarket.com.
