ELLENSBURG - After losing an 11-inning heartbreaker to Ellensburg Tuesday, 5-3, the Moses Lake Walleyes traveled about an hour west looking for some payback during a Wednesday doubleheader.

However, Moses Lake (4-10) was turned back after a pair of losses. Ellensburg took Game 1, 6-5, and followed with a 6-4 win in the nightcap.

"Both teams played very well," head coach Robert Haensel said. "We had opportunities in each of the games ... We just didn't come up with a clutch hit or a clutch play in the field."

Tuesday at Larson Field, the Walleyes led 1-0 after the second inning before Ellensburg notched the equalizer in the fourth.

The Walleyes took a brief 3-2 lead in the eighth before Ellensburg once again tied the game in the ninth.

Ellensburg plated two in the 11th to escape with the win.

Easton Castro led Moses Lake with two hits while Carson Fisk and Christian Lopez each drove in a run.

Jason Cole pitched eight innings, striking out six batters.

The Walleyes are back at Larson Field Friday for the Ed McNamara Memorial Tournament.
