Throwback cars dazzle ERP events

EPHRATA - In the return of the Washington Midget Racing Association to Ephrata Raceway Park, Spanaway's Tony Seidelman reigned supreme.

Seidelman was ale to place first in his heat before winning the main event.

Skeeter Flake and Troy Globe led early before Seidelman took the lead for good on lap number six, cruising to a victory in a caution-free race.

The stands at ERP were packed for Grant County Schools Night at the Races and the track welcomed open wheel racers from the Pacific Northwest as well as Canada.

Fans were treated to a blast from the past from the West Coast Vintage Racers that featured sprint cars from the 1960's and 70's.

Bernie Voytek, of Scio, Ore., grabbed the lead from Spokane's Blake Sneva after a caution on lap eight.

ERP went even farther back in racing history during the Northwest Early Stocks, which featured cars with bodies from the 1930's and 40's.

Shawn Priest, of Spokane, jumped ahead on lap six for the remainder of the 20-lap main event.

ERP will host the North American Big Rigs out of Canada on June 21.

The Jerry's Auto Supply Street Stocks and Pepsi Racing Winged 360 Sprint Cars will also be in action.

Racing is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
