Evelyn Lois Whisenhunt, age 83, passed away June 7, 2014 at her son and daughter-in-law's home in Moses Lake, WA surrounded by her family. She was born September 27, 1930 in Lincoln County, Oregon to Le Roy Kennedy and Sadie Leota Wilton Kennedy, the sixth of eight children. At an early age she learned to work hard, working in the harvests and picking ferns to help the family and put herself through school. Her hard work paid off when she became the first person in her family to graduate High School. She was married July 4, 1953 in Cottage Grove, Oregon. She spent her early years of marriage traveling as her husband was in the Air Force. She loved Germany where her first son, David, was born in 1955. Her second son, Ronald, was born in Texas in 1957. Finally her daughter, Lena, was born in Arizona in 1961. In 1964 her husband retired from the military and they made their home in Philomath, Oregon where she worked in her sister's Recreation Room as a waitress. In 1971 they moved to Spokane, Washington where she worked as an apartment manager and a hotel maid. In 1975 she settled in Moses Lake where she worked at the Carnation (Nestle) plant until she retired. After retiring she worked in her daughter-in-law's daycare, where all the children called her Grandma.

In 2006 she was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses and her focus became teaching others about God's promises for the future. That remained her priority right up until her death. She loved all kinds of gardening and loved to share her produce, including her famous freezer jams. She loved reading, congregation get-togethers, and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 sisters, her son, David, and grandson, Michael.

She is survived by her son, Ronald (Alisa) and daughter, Lena, 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great granddaughter.

Memorial Service to be held Friday, June 13, 2014 at 2pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses 1610 W Lee Street Moses Lake, WA.
