We have been showing old photos and asking for information about those photos for several weeks now. Readers have responded with great enthusiasm. Thank you. The responses to the latest photos, those appearing last week, including the mystery photo, will be presented in the near future.

This week we feature fresh photos, those taken within the past month. Take a look and enjoy.

Million Air big player in SkyFest 14 at Fairchild AFB

The call came from Larry Godden a week before the air show was scheduled at Fairchild Air Force Base. He asked if Garnet and I wanted to help dispense bottled water to airmen on the flight line during SkyFest 14.

Larry, the manager of the local Million Air facility, brought a company Gem four-passenger electric car, placed a large cooler in the back seat, filled it with ice and several cases of bottled water.

Garnet and I, along with Larry and his friend, Ayna Amaya, took turns driving the aircraft static display area of the flight line. The place was crowded, with over 125,000 people attending the event on Saturday alone.

One trip down and one back, handing bottles to uniformed airmen, was enough to empty the cooler. It was refilled and another trip commenced.

This was a great honor for Garnet, Ayna, Larry and me to serve the Fairchild airmen in this manner. The driving force for the four of us to serve in this way was Million Air, a company providing five star services to general, business and commercial aviation, who donated the water and the use of the vehicle. Plus United Rentals of Moses Lake, donated a car trailer to transport the vehicle from Moses Lake to Fairchild and back.

A big thank you to Larry and the Freeman Holdings Group, doing business as Million Air Moses Lake, and United Rentals, from Garnet, Ayna and me, along with all the airmen at Fairchild AFB.

Cardwell appears on Columbia Basin Lifestyles

Shawn Cardwell, Social Media Editor for the Columbia Basin Herald, has appeared twice on my radio show, "Columbia Basin Lifestyles." This enabled us to discuss how the Herald was providing realistic current news on electronic media, as up-to-date-as possible.

We also discussed our gardening efforts and other relevant and current information. Both shows were well received by listeners who indicated they were anxious to have Shawn on the show again.

This may happen this Saturday or next Saturday, so check it out this Saturday, June 7 from 9 to 11 a.m. and next Saturday, June 14 to find out when she will appear. Tune in at KBSN-AM 1470. Dennis L. Clay photo

You know you are in a small town when...

Recently I had the need to use a telephone book in the town of Wilson Creek. The only easily-accessible business was the Harvest Moon, the local restaurant and watering hole.

As I was parking the Ram, a vehicle was spotted heading down one street. I watched as it turned to the left and crossed main street. It parked in a parking space and the rider entered the Harvest Moon. It was a riding mower.

Only in a small town.
