Howard Arthur Larson

| July 31, 2014 6:00 AM

Howard Arthur Larson, was born on May 16, 1924, to Julius and Anna Larson of Kenyon, MN. His sister, Corinne (Tootie), was born 3 1/2 years later and soon thereafter the family moved to a lakeside, 20 acre plot west of Faribault, MN. This location eventually became a small resort know as Larson's Bay. The family had large vegetable gardens and a huge strawberry patch.

Howard attended a 2-room country grade school in the small town of Warsaw, MN, about 2 ? miles from home. He attended Faribault High School for a time. He loved hunting and fishing, and was fortunate to have neighborhood Christian friends who helped him begin his journey of faith. Howard's family moved to the city of Faribault, MN, in 1944, where his father found employment at Northern State Power Co.

Unable to serve in the military during WW2 for medical reasons, Howard worked for several farmers. He later had an opportunity to join a neighborhood friend, and the two left for Washington to join his friend's brother, who worked as a bricklayer in Moses Lake. Howard learned the bricklaying trade, and worked in that occupation for some time. He later worked for the City of Moses Lake and Lady Byrd Johnson's "Beautify America" program until retirement.

Howard met Lois Corbin while attending First Baptist church in Moses Lake, and the two were married on 12-29-51. In 1961, they welcomed Michael Ralph (Mick) into their hearts and home.

Howard was a gentle and gracious man who was always willing to help others. He had a strong faith, and served and worked in the church throughout his adult life. He and Lois were among the original founders of the Moses Lake Alliance Church where he served on the governing board, or wherever needed. He was a devout man of prayer which is the attribute most of those who knew him will remember. He and Lois were also instrumental in bringing Child Evangelism Fellowship to Grant County, and they worked with CEF for over 60 years.

Howard went to meet his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 15, 2014 after a brief illness. His parents, Julius and Anna Larson, and loving wife Lois of 62 years, preceded him in death. He is survived by his son Michael Larson; granddaughter Natasha Carswell; great grandson Damien Hamilton, all of St Paul, MN; his sister Corinne Benedict, of Princeton, MN; and two nieces.

A memorial service will be held at the Moses Lake Alliance Church, 1100 N. Grape Drive on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with lunch to follow.

Contributions may be made to Moses Lake Alliance Church/Oberg Missionary fund. Kevin and Bonnie Oberg were very special to Howard and he prayed for them daily. Please sign the online guestbook at www.kayserschapel.com. Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel & Crematory.
