Man sentenced for threatening grandfather

EPHRATA - A Desert Aire man was sentenced to about a year and a half in jail for threatening to kill his grandfather and choking his grandfather's wife.

Cameran Bennett, 24, will be allowed to go back to live with the couple that he threatened when he is released from jail, according to court documents.

According to the police report, Bennett was living with his grandfather and his grandfather's wife on a farm in Desert Aire and was frequently combative and broke items in the house when he got upset. He allegedly used methamphetamine and was also on medication to control in anger.

In January, Bennett become livid when his grandfather would not allow him to use his truck to go to a friend's house, and threatened to kill him. The grandfather said he believed Bennett would follow through on the threats because of his past actions.

He then put his hands around the jaw and neck of his grandfather's wife and began to squeeze, according to court documents.

According to court documents, his grandfather was 69 and his wife was 67.

Bennett will also be on probation for a year and a half when he gets out of jail.
