Walleyes drop two against Peppers
YAKIMA - On their last road trip of the season the Moses Lake Walleyes came up empty.
The team dropped two in a row against the Yakima Valley Peppers Monday by scores of 13-3 and 12-2. Neither game went the full seven innings.
In Game 1, both teams were knotted at 2-2 before the Peppers rattled off 11 unanswered runs, including a nine-run fourth inning.
Moses Lake tallied one run in the top of the fifth, but it couldn't cut any further into the deficit and the game ended.
Cade Tunstall led the way for Moses Lake's offense with two hits.
The Walleye defense continued its struggled in the nightcap and Yakima Valley built a 7-0 lead after the first inning.
Moses Lake was able to scratch a run across in the top half of the second. However, the Peppers added one run each in their halves of the second, third and fourth.
The Walleyes drew the deficit to within eight runs after scoring in the sixth, but Yakima Valley put the game out of reach after plating two runners in the bottom of the sixth.
Defensive mistakes plagued the Walleyes in Yakima as the team totalled eight errors in the two games.
Cristian Lopez provided two hits for Moses Lake in Game 2.
Jared Haddican pitched 5 1/3 innings and struck out one batter.
Moses Lake closed its season with a single games against the Peppers Tuesday at Larson Field.
