Raymond Swanson passed away on June 30th at his home in San Jose, CA after a hard fought battle with lymphoma. He was born in Chicago, IL, on May 4th, 1930 and was raised in Moses Lake, WA, where he met his high school sweetheart, Gail Hansen. They shared 62 years together while initially traveling the world serving in the Air Force. He retired from the military and moved the family to San Jose, where he worked at Lockheed for 23 years. He was known for his strong sense of family, love of sports, quick wit and humor and his encyclopedic knowledge on every topic. His annual trips to Tahoe with family were a highlight filled with card and dice games, tennis and martinis. His presence in a room was undeniable. He was a strong and steady leader and will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Alex and daughter-in-law, Jill. He is survived by his wife, Gail, his children Warren, Ann, Sharon (Dennis), Steven (Sue) and Kathryn (Gary), as well as ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A funeral service in celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, July 8th at St. Timothy's Lutheran Church, San Jose, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to Stanford Cancer Institute, Attn: Dr. Advani's Lymphoma Research, in honor of Raymond Swanson or to St. Timothy's Lutheran Church.
