July 4 fireworks

| July 3, 2014 6:00 AM

MOSES LAKE - The nation's birthday will be celebrated with a bang at fireworks shows around Grant and Adams counties.

Local fireworks shows begin at 10 p.m. in Moses Lake, Othello and George, or about the time it gets dark, whichever comes first.

The displays in Othello and George are the finale to daylong celebrations. There's a morning parade in both towns and daylong activities in the local parks.

The City of Moses Lake will sponsor a community picnic at 5 p.m. Friday in McCosh Park, with hot dogs, ice cream and lemonade. That's followed by a concert at 8 p.m. on the park stage. The concert will feature the group "Eclectic Approach," a five-man rock ensemble from Seattle.

A fireworks show is scheduled for July 4 in Grand Coulee, following the laser light show at Grand Coulee Dam. The viewing spot is the park below the dam visitors center.
