Jack Earl Burns
Jack Earl Burns, 85, passed away on Sunday June 29, 2014 at home surrounded by his family. A celebration of Jack's life will be held at the Moses Lake High School Theatre, 803 E. Jack was born May 1st, 1929 in Taylor, Washington to Edward and Lillian Burns.
At age 16, he met his wife-to-be, Henrietta ("Neke") Dolleman, in the brickyard in Taylor. Taylor is now Cedar River Watershed. Jack went to school in Taylor and Hobart, graduating from TaHoMa High School in 1947. He married Neke in Issaquah, Washington on July 22, 1950, at the Roadside Chapel. They lived in the Seattle area for 7 years. He served in the Washington National Guard and worked in several truck-driving jobs, including hauling milk for Taylor Transportation. He was hired by Safeway Stores, Inc. in 1956 and they transferred him to Moses Lake in 1957. He retired in 1992 after driving truck for Safeway for 36 years. Jack was a great husband and father and was known for his honesty, integrity, loyalty and his sense of humor. He was a member of the Light and Life Free Methodist Church for many years and was actively involved in the startup of Journey Church here in Moses Lake.
Jack is survived by his wife, Neke; 2 daughters, Dixie (Cary) Basel and Patricia (Stephen) McBee and his son Ed (Judy) Burns and his son-in-law, Lonnie Beaumont. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Beaumont (2008). Jack and Neke have 8 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandson and many other loving family members.
