Business owner confronts alleged burglary leading to pursuit

MOSES LAKE - A Moses Lake man is facing burglary and eluding charges after he was confronted by a Moses Lake business owner and fled from police Thursday night.

About 11 p.m. Thursday, a business owner received an alarm at his South Lasco Lane business. When he arrived on scene, he noticed a black car parked at the property and allegedly found Anthony Silva, 32, attempting to leave the property, according to police reports. Silva allegedly stole several tools and other items from the property.

Silva, wearing a ski mask, was confronted by the business owner when Silva returned to his vehicle and fled. The business owner jumped in his vehicle and was able to follow Silva until Moses Lake police and sheriff's deputies eventually caught up to Silva on Road L Northeast. Silva allegedly continued to flee along county roads, eventually heading into town on East Broadway Avenue and continuing on South Pioneer Way to Wheeler Road then onto state Route 17 heading south, according to police reports.

Police deployed spike strips on Nelson Road and Silva finally pulled over just before hitting the strips.

Silva has been charged with second-degree burglary and felony eluding in Grant County Superior Court. The stolen property was recovered from his vehicle and returned to the business owner.
