Betty Lou Goodrich, 92, a Moses Lake resident since 1953, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 22, 2014 in Moses Lake. Family will greet friends from 9 to 9:45 a.m., Saturday, February 1st at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Nelson Road Chapel. Funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. at the church. Betty Lou was born in Sandpoint, Idaho on January 18, 1922, daughter of the late William and Elsie (Elliott) Nelson. She grew up in Spokane and attended school at Sheridan elementary, Libby Junior High and graduated in 1940 from Lewis and Clark High School. In the fall of 1940, she entered Eastern Washington College at Cheney and graduated in 1944 with a bachelor's degree majoring in education with minors in library science and home economics.

Betty Lou's first teaching job was in Seattle. She also taught in Spokane, Moses Lake and two years in the dependant's school in Munich, Germany.

In 1953, she married Kenneth A. Goodrich in Spokane. They made their home on Ken's farm unit in Block 42 and Betty Lou became a full time homemaker. Their son, Ken, was born in 1955 and their daughter, Mary Lou, was born in 1958.

Betty Lou was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her hobbies were heirloom sewing and collecting antiques. Her favorite activity was to attend an antique show with her friends and finding just the right thing to add to her collections.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth A. Goodrich; son, Kenneth N. Goodrich with his wife Brenda; and 4 grandchildren, Emily (Jeff) Johnson, Elliott (Kayla) Goodrich, Claire (Cameron) Haynes, and Marshall Goodrich.

Besides her parents, Betty Lou was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Lou Goodrich and a brother, William R. Nelson.
