MATTAWA – The Wahluke schools were locked down temporarily last week after a general threat was made to Wahluke High School Thursday morning, reportedly by 9-1-1 call.

The threat was not confirmed, Grant County Sheriff Tom Jones said. There was no incident, and no one was injured. Still, there was concern.

The Wahluke School District implemented its emergency procedures, coordinating efforts with the Grant County Sheriff's Office and Mattawa Police Department. Specifics of the threat were not being released as of Monday because there is an active investigation by the GCSO. ?

As precaution, Wahluke Schools implemented a limited lockdown. There was restricted movement within the campus.

According to Jones, these emergency procedures were in effect until the end of the week. In addition, the Sheriff's Office increased patrols around the schools.
