MATTAWA - The Wahluke schools were locked down, temporarily, last week after a general threat was made to Wahluke High School Thursday morning, reportedly by a 9-1-1 call.

The threat was not confirmed, Grant County Sheriff Tom Jones said. There was not an incident, and no one was injured. Still, there was concern.

The Wahluke School District implemented its emergency procedures with coordinating efforts by the Grant County Sheriff's Office (GCSO) and the Mattawa Police Department. Specifics, of the threat, were not being released, as of Monday, as there is an active investigation by the GCSO.

As a precaution, Wahluke Schools implemented a, limited lockdown so there was restricted movement within the campus.

According to Jones, these emergency procedures were in effect until the end of the week. In addition, the Sheriff's Office increased patrols around the schools.
