Business expo draws crowd

MOSES LAKE - Basin business owners had the chance to network with each other and reach out to potential customers during the recent Moses Lake Chamber of Commerce Business Expo.
The annual event took place Tuesday night at Big Bend Community College. Chamber director Debbie Doran-Martinez said about 56 businesses set up booths this year. Close to 400 people were registered for the expo, but since it was open to the public it was likely that more than 400 people attended, she said.
Janet Meaney, of Pour Girls and Some Guys, said the expo is a great way for businesses to talk about their products or services with potential customers. This is the second year Pour Girls has participated in the business expo, she said.
Pour Girls is a liquid catering company based in Seattle. However, they have a network of bartenders throughout the state.
They have a presence in the Basin because Meaney, who has been with Pour Girls for about seven years, currently lives in Ephrata.
Meaney said attending events like the business expo helps spread the word about the company.
"A lot of people don't know we're out here," she said. "The expo is a great way to showcase what we do and get our name out there."
Doran-Martinez said that was one of the goals of the expo- to give businesses a forum to share their products and services with other people. The expo can be a good marketing tool for businesses, she said in a previous interview.
Other expo vendors this year included health care providers, insurance agents and community groups, among other businesses.
