WARDEN - The Warden Development Council recently recognized a handful of community members for their contributions to Warden over the past year.

The group handed out its annual Volunteer of the Year, Individual of the Year and Business of the Year awards during a meeting earlier this week.

The group's Lisa Swindler and Pat Millard were both named Volunteer of the Year.

"I just want to thank them for all the work they've done, it's just amazing all they've done for this community," the council's Dale Pomeroy said, who handed out the awards.

One of the things Pomeroy highlighted was their work at the organization's annual golf tournament last summer.

Pomeroy handed out the award for Business of the Year as well. This year, Lamb Weston BSW received the award.

"Lamb Weston as an organization is very good for our community to have around," he said.

Pomeroy mentioned the company's willingness to sponsor and donate to various community events.

Marvin Price, of Lamb Weston, was at the meeting to accept the award.

"We're proud to be part of this community," Price said.

WDC president Susie Barr was named Individual of the Year for her efforts to improve the town. She worked last year to put up flower pots in downtown Warden, the group's Randy Wiggins said.

"How many times we hear different comments of what a blessing it is to have some color in the community," he said. "She is the provider of that color in many ways, shapes and forms."
