EPHRATA - It's been a busy week and a half for Ephrata residents Scott and Misty Paul.

The couple launched their new business, Ephrata Errand Runners, last Monday. They've received calls from people needing them to pick up their groceries, take their dogs to grooming appointments and clean up around their house, among other tasks.

But that's all perfectly fine, Misty Paul said, since that's what Ephrata Errand Runners is all about.

"We're an errand service, we run errands," she said. "It's almost limitless the things we can do for people."

Some examples of things they can do for people include going on coffee and food runs, mailing packages and picking up mail and household chores and light manual labor, Paul said.

Ephrata Errand Runners serves the greater Ephrata and Soap Lake area, but she and her husband are willing to take jobs outside of that area depending on the task, she said.

They can do one-time jobs, but are also open to setting up regular tasks, Scott Paul said.

"We had some guy ask us to walk his dog once a week, so we can do things like that too," he said.

Paul said prices depend on the job.

"We do it by the job, not by the hour," he said. "Every job is so unique and different."

Misty Paul said customers can call either of them to discuss cost estimates.

"Just call and ask, that's what I tell everyone," she said. "We can talk about what they were wanting done and what they can afford."

Paul said they've received many calls from senior citizens asking for help with various tasks around their homes.

"I thought it would be more coffee runs and lunch runs but that hasn't been the majority of calls we get," she said. "But it's great knowing we can help them."

Paul said they're currently helping an elderly gentleman ship his belongings to his new home in Florida. And it's those kind of tasks that are the most enjoyable, she said.

"That's kind of where our main inspiration for this business came from," she said. "My mother is older and lives on her own and Scott is always down there helping her, but not everyone has someone they can call."
