Reader wonders about the state of America

| January 18, 2014 5:00 AM

As I listen to the news every day, it is hard not to get depressed about what has happened to our once great country. I often ask myself how this current situation happened. We now have a President who believes in redistribution of wealth and is willing to destroy the best healthcare system in the world in order to achieve his goal of "equality of outcome." He and his party don't care that they are spending one trillion dollars more every year than they take in. We now have more people collecting government checks than working full time. We pay Americans not to work at the same time we encourage illegal immigrants to pour into our country. We have several huge entitlement programs that were set up as ''Ponzi Schemes" that are about to bankrupt our country, but we have very few in Congress with the guts to do anything for fear of not being reelected. It is mind-boggling to think this President was elected and re-elected to enact his ''fundamental transformation" of America! It recently all became clear to me however as I heard a news report about a national poll that was conducted last month. In a poll of several thousand registered Democrats, 68% said they supported the Affordable Care Act, while only 32% said they supported Obamacare. For you Obama supporters: they are the same thing! Now we know.
