MOSES LAKE - Moses Lake residents were able to meet a big league ballplayer and announcer Tuesday afternoon at US Bank.

Representatives from the Seattle Mariners, including second basemen Nick Franklin and radio broadcaster Aaron Goldsmith, stopped in Moses Lake for an autograph and photo session.

Those in attendance received autographed pictures and could have other memorabilia signed. The Mariner Moose was also available for pictures.

Goldsmith recently wrapped up his first year as the team's radio broadcaster.

As a rookie this past season, Franklin appeared in 102 games for the Mariners and posted a .225 batting average. Frankin also hit 12 home runs and recorded 45 RBIs.

The Mariners Caravan began its trip Jan. 7 and its next scheduled stop is in Walla Walla on Thursday. The trip across the state hopes to increase excitement for the upcoming season.

The Mariners begin spring training next month in Arizona when pitchers and catchers report Feb. 12. The full squad is scheduled to report Feb. 17 with the first spring training game coming Feb. 27 against the Padres.

Seattle opens the regular season April 1 on the road against the Angels.
