| January 16, 2014 7:35 AM

MATTAWA — Schools in the Wahluke School District in Mattawa are on limited lockdown after a report of a Facebook message about a possible shooting today at the high school.

A sheriff's office spokesperson said the threat has not been confirmed. As a precaution, Wahluke schools have been placed on limited lockdown, meaning there is restricted movement within the campus. The emergency procedures are in effect for at least the next two days.

The sheriff's office is actively investigating the threat, which was reported early Thursday morning by an anonymous person who received a private message on Facebook indicating there would be a shooting today at the high school, according to police reports.

The sheriff's office is increasing patrols around Wahluke schools.

Intramural activities have been cancelled the next two days throughout the school district. Upcoming athletic events may also be canceled or the schedule changed.
