ML swim eighth at Kentridge Invitational

FEDERAL WAY - Moses Lake boys swim scored 248 points and took eighth place at the Kentridge Invitational recently.

Head coach Tony St. Onge said it was the team's goal to place in the top eight and earn a trophy.

"We did it by swimming season best times out of a majority of the team," he said.

The meet was comprised of 43 schools, including most of the best teams in the state. Mercer Island took first place.

Junior Brenden Eslick won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1 minute, 46.15 seconds. He also placed fifth in the 100-yard butterfly at 54.31 seconds. Both times qualified for the state championship.

Junior Zack Johnston qualified for state in both the 500-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly after finishing third and sixth, respectively.

Senior Kaelan Connacher placed in the 100-yard backstroke and 100-yard freestyle. Junior Madison Molitor also placed in the 100-yard freestyle.

Freshman Isaiah Zeller took eighth in diving, while senior Tristiane Randall and sophomore Trenton Springen placed 15th and 18th, respectively.

The team of Johnston, Molitor, Connacher and Eslick took fifth place in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1 minute, 31.53 seconds and also placed sixth in the 400-yard freestyle relay at 3 minutes, 24.37 seconds.

Both times qualified for the state championship.
