Marie Giersdorf

Marie Giersdorf went to be with the Lord on January 2nd, 2014. Marie was born in Bemidji, Minnesota on August 28th, 1927, as the sixth child of Ed and Josephine Golly. Marie's older siblings were Florence Wakeman, Edwin Golly, Jay Golly, Alice McNiece and Loraine Golly. Her youngest sister, June Jerman, survives her today. She moved to Washington in 1942 and married Louis Giersdorf in Moses Lake, Washington on August 30, 1945 after graduating high school in Bemidji. She was a blessed, beloved wife and stay at home mother of four children: Linda Millard, Ed Giersdorf, Debbie Volkmann and Les Giersdorf. Marie's current lineage includes 14 grandchildren , 27 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. The family lived in Moses Lake on and off for a period of 30 years, only leaving there to follow work that took them in their travels from Oklahoma to Alaska. Marie was an avid bowler, and had quite the collection of trophies and pins to allude to that fact. Family time spent on the water was more than a pastime for Marie. Whether it was ice skating, water skiing, or just going for a dip, you can be sure Marie was there to partake in the fun! Marie was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Louis Giersdorf, the proclaimed love of her life. Also preceding her passing by 13 1/2 years, was her oldest son, Ed Giersdorf. They moved to Wenatchee in 1979, where they enjoyed their retirement and family for over 30 years. Upon her husband's passing, Marie went to live with her children; never spending one day outside their loving embrace. Services to celebrate Marie's life will take place at 11:00 AM on May 3rd, in Wenatchee, WA, at Wenatchee First Assembly of God.
