Two injured in rollover near Moses Lake
Two men from Grand Coulee were injured in a rollover crash north of Moses Lake Thursday.
MOSES LAKE - A single-vehicle rollover Thursday near Moses Lake sent two Grand Coulee men to the hospital.
About 8:30 a.m. Thursday, sheriff's deputies and emergency personnel responded to a rollover crash in the 12000 block of Stratford Road Northeast, about 10 miles north of Moses Lake. Franklin Henspeter, 69, was driving his 2000 GMC Jimmy south on Stratford when he lost control of the vehicle on the icy road. The vehicle then slid off the east side of the road, causing it to roll three times through a dry irrigation canal and landed on its wheels, according to the sheriff's office.
Both Henspeter and his passenger, Tommas Schloss, 63, became trapped in the vehicle and crews from Grant County Fire District 5 were able to extricate them from the totaled vehicle. The two were transported by ambulance to Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake, according to the sheriff's office. Henspepter reportedly suffered a ruptured spleen and was hospitalized. Schloss broke his arm and back and also remains in the hospital.
Both men were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, the sheriff's office said.
The sheriff's office Motor traffic Unit investigated the collision.
