Reader weighs in on how courts work

| January 10, 2014 5:00 AM

Don't understand how our courts work, first of all they're over booked they violate there own rules like the right to a speedy trial, those incarcerated think they're getting a good deal but they're really getting railroaded by their attorneys. I believe if you have more than one charge all charges should run concurrent. I'm not an attorney but seen so many cases how they're charged even if they're innocent and lies to get a conviction. And how juries are used to make a conviction they say jury of your own peers. Who are we kidding? Those on immigration hold how they're treated they say their stories but I've seen first hand. Many that are deported are executed, killed in others countries. So they'll try to come back to the land of opportunity. There are other foreign in this country that live better and receive more help from the state. What's wrong with this picture? Certain families are targeted by our courts. See how many times ones been in prison some people like my son Gabriel Toscano and my nephew Michael Castoreno. Where is the justice? In our courts I've seen a rapist get three days and murderers get better offers. What about these families that go through a life sentence with grief?
