Guadalupe "Lupe" Luera Peña

| January 4, 2014 5:00 AM

Guadalupe "Lupe" Luera Pena went to be with our Heavenly Father on December 30, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. Lupe was born in Elsa, Texas on November 17, 1949 to Pedro Pena and Rosa Luera Pena.

He attended school in Elsa, and Ed Couch Elsa and learned carpentry and earned his certifications in welding and as an electrician. He met and married his first wife America Garcia, together, they moved around doing field work. They had two children Jeremiah and Yvette. They later separated and he met Yolanda Beltran, who had two children of her own - Angelica and Jimmy, he and Yolanda had two children together, Rosa Lizette Pena and Guadalupe Pena Jr. He moved to Moses Lake in 1976 and made a life for all his children. Lupe was a family oriented man who loved his children, grandchildren and his extended family very deeply. His daily life consisted of visiting his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Lupe was a pool shark so he spent time teaching his family how to play. He loved BBQ's - all year round - with family and friends always around. He loved to water his huge lawn by hand instead of using sprinklers, and he loved to take naps under his tree lying on his lawn chairs. He enjoyed gardening and using homeopathic and natural remedies.

Lupe lived a very fast-paced life, but touched and helped anyone in need. He had a heart of gold and compassion for all.

He is survived by his local family including his children: Yvette Pena of Warden, Jeremiah (Lindsay) Pena of Kennewick, Rosa Lizette Pena (Peter), Guadalupe Pena Jr. , Angelica Castaneda and Jimmy Beltran all of Moses Lake; brothers Raul Marroquin of Moses Lake, Armando (Renee) Pena of Los Angeles, California, Carlos (Libby) Pena of Mission, Texas, Luis (Ninfa) Pena of Bakersfield, California, Robert (Rosa) Pena and Jr. (Sheri) Marroquin, all of Angleton, Texas; 22 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother Rosa Pena and father Pedro Pena, the mother of his two youngest children Yolanda Beltran, and his two beautiful grandchildren Natalie and Diego Beltran.

Lupe was loved by so many and will be greatly missed by all who had the chance to know him.
