FRANKLIN COUNTY - A former Othello attorney was arrested Tuesday after police stopped him in a stolen pickup.

Franklin County deputies arrested Michael Curtis Colley, 28, about 10 p.m. Tuesday following a routine traffic stop in West Pasco. Colley, a former immigration attorney, was reportedly driving a pickup while using license plates from a different truck, which were stolen from the vehicle in Moses Lake in the last two to three months, unknowing to the truck's owner, according to police reports.

After further investigation, it was found that the pickup Colley was driving was stolen out of Othello and had not yet been reported. The vehicle was impounded pending a search warrant when the owner of the Moses Lake plates was contacted to see if his vehicle was stolen. It is when the plate exchange was discovered. Deputies were able to confirm the plates the Moses Lake man had on his truck belonged to the vehicle Colley was driving, according to police reports.

Colley was arrested and booked into Franklin County Jail on suspicion of several charges, including possession of a stolen vehicle, unlawful possession of a firearm, identity theft and third-degree driving while license suspended.

His passenger, Adel Estrada, 38, of Othello, was also arrested on Benton County warrants and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm.
