Michael Allen Garwood

| January 1, 2014 5:00 AM

Michael Allen Garwood passed away at his home in Spokane, Washington on December 26, 2013, at the age of 63. Mike was born June 18, 1950 in Spokane. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Harold and Marian Garwood.

Mike attended school in Malden, Washington and graduated from Rosalia High School in 1969. He was proud to be a Spartan. Mike played football and was involved with track and field, as well as being a student leader amongst his peers.

After high school, Mike turned down a music scholarship to Eastern Washington University to pursue a career with the Milwaukee Railroad and attend Spokane Falls. Mike found the love of his life, LaDawn and married in February of 1972. A Milwaukee transfer sent them back to Moses Lake in 1978 to live and raise their family within the Moses Lake community.

When the railroad closed in 1992, Mike took it as an opportunity to start his own business with Garwood's Porch and Deck. He also had different Maintenance positions. Due to poor health, he retired early and moved to Spokane to be closer to his daughter and growing grandchildren.

Mike was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His commitment and unwavering faithfulness to his family is his legacy. He was always happiest when surrounded by loved ones sharing stories and taking pictures worth more than a thousand words. If there was ever something that needed fixed, Mike was your guy.

The grief of losing Mike is immeasurable. He is survived in death by his wife of 41 years LaDawn, daughter Michelle Mercier, grandson Hunter and granddaughter Camdyn, brother in law Logan Beam. His Cousins, Kathy Pratt, Bob & Stan Marsh. And last but not least special brothers: Tom Carroll, Dick Carroll Gordy Damskov and sis Peg Carroll. Guy, Megan, Andy, Brooke, Michael, Bailey Coumont. We will be commemorating his life on Friday, January 3, 2014 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church at 11:00 am. All are welcome to remember Mike with us.
