Diamond Logistics to expand Quincy operations
Diamond Logistics Northwest recently acquired about 18 acres of land from the Port of Quincy for a new cross-docking and load consolidation facility.
QUINCY - Diamond Logistics Northwest is expanding its presence in Quincy with a new cross-docking and load consolidation facility.
The company, which currently operates a 15,000 square-foot refrigerated warehouse north of Quincy, recently acquired about 18 acres of land from the Port of Quincy.
Diamond Logistics' new facility will be located next to Amway's botanical manufacturing plant, which is currently being constructed, according to a Port of Quincy news release.
The new project will be built in stages, with construction of phase 1 scheduled to begin in the next 18 months.
The company specializes in helping shippers and receivers transport perishables as cost effectively and efficiently as possible, according to the release.
The new expansion will give the company more cold storage space and more room for loading and unloading trucks.
Diamond Logistics President Warren Morgan said the company can help develop multi-faceted solutions to problems both shippers and receivers face.
"It is clear to us that changes in trucking regulations are creating challenges for everyone involved in the perishable supply chain, which is why DLNW is providing a cross-docking and load consolidation facility to help produce shippers and receivers," he said in a recent statement.
The company's cross-docking and load consolidation services can help customers reduce the number of pickups and shorten dwell times for their products, according to their website.
Diamond Logistics can also help distribute smaller quantities of products within a customer's supply chain, which can reduce inventory and improve the freshness of perishables.
Diamond Logistics has also been working with Cold Train to help its customers, according to the Port of Quincy.
Cold Train President Steve Lawson said many of Cold Train's customers have requested cross dock and consolidation services, which Diamond Logistics has provided.
"Cold Train has been involved in a pilot program with Diamond Logistics NW for the past six months," he said. "During that time, we have seen operational benefits for Cold Train and its customers."
Lawson said the company is looking forward to Diamond Logistics completing their expansion.
