Akira (Mike) Mano

Akira (Mike) Mano passed away on December 7th, 2013. He was born September 25, 1923 in Woodinville, Washington. During World War II, Mike served in the 442nd regiment and after the war, he moved with the family to Quincy, Washington, where he remained for nearly 75 years. He had a very long, successful career as a farmer. Mike was a quiet man but he did enjoy matsutake hunting, fishing and traveling around to find good seafood restaurants.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents Shikano and Josuke Mano; brother Kumao(Hank) Mano and sister Hatsue Itami. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, June Mano; sister Shizue Saito; son Malcolm Mano; stepson Steven Ito; grandsons Eugene and Ryan Mano, along with many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to relatives and friends during his illness, plus the staff at Merrill Gardens of Mill Creek for their kindness during his stay. There will be a service held on January 18th, 2014 at Solie Funeral Home; 3301 Colby Avenue, Everett, WA.
