Moses Lake boys swim 6th in state
FEDERAL WAY - Moses Lake boys swimming capped off an outstanding year with a strong showing at the 4A state swim meet in Federal Way.
The Chiefs took sixth place, achieving the goal of a top 10 finish set by head coach Tony St. Onge.
"In a competitive situation there will be ups and downs throughout the contest and we definitely stayed mentally tough throughout the meet," he said.
Brenden Eslick reached the podium in the 200-yard freestyle after finishing second with a time of 1 minute, 43.77 seconds. He also took sixth in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 52.29 seconds.
Both were school records.
Zack Johnston placed fifth in the 200-yard freestyle as well as the 500-yard freestyle. Johnston's time of 4 minutes, 47.66 seconds in the 500-yard freestyle was a school record.
"We stepped up and competitively raced people every time we had the opportunity," St. Onge said.
Madison Molitor placed 13th in the 100-yard freestyle and Kaelan Connacher recorded a pair of 16th place finishes in the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke.
Tristiane Randall finished 14th in the one meter diving event with 295.15 points.
The team of Johnston, Molitor, Connacher and Eslick finished third in the 200-yard freestyle relay and set a school record in the event.
