Allied Arts annual soiree Friday
MOSES LAKE - Art lovers will have the chance to bid on original works from local artists, and support live performance in the area, at the Columbia Basin Allied Arts Art Soiree Friday. The festivities begin at 6 p.m. at the ATEC Building at Big Bend Community College.
"Our only fundraiser of the year," Pat Daugherty, of the Allied Arts association, said. The group is an "arts group dedicated to bringing live performances to the region," Daugherty said. Allied Arts was founded in 1978.
The 2014 soiree will feature beer and wine tasting and "all the gourmet appetizers you can eat," Daugherty said. Silent and live auctions also are scheduled. The band "Cover Story" will perform live.
Allied Arts also will sponsor a "Diamond Draw" where participants will have a chance to win a ring, Daugherty said.
Rie Palkovic is the featured artist. Palkovic is head of the BBCC art department and teaches classes in painting, drawing, design and art history. Her still life, "Akimbo" will be offered for sale during the auction.
A number of local artists will have works in the auction, Daugherty said. Other items up for auction include "getaway events" and gourmet meals, she said.
Allied Arts brings nationally known performers in dance, drama and music, Daugherty said. "During each production, local artists are spotlighted in our gallery lobby and visiting performers go out into the local schools as part of our outreach program," she said.
"We feel the arts make life better," Daugherty wrote.
Tickets are $50 each and are available at the Allied Arts office, 509-793-2059, by contacting any Allied Arts board member, or at Artgarden Pottery, 104 West Third Avenue.
