MOSES LAKE – A Washington State Patrol trooper on a traffic stop was injured only slightly when he was struck by a passing vehicle in Moses Lake on Jan. 28.

The collision occurred around 10 p.m. at Broadway and Gumwood. The trooper, Jeremy Weber, 40, of Waterville, was outside of his patrol car attending to a driver he had stopped.

According to the WSP, Mary Ann Calahan Bartley, 53, of Reno, Nevada, was driving by in the right lane in a 2003 Ford Taurus and struck Weber.

Bartley did not stop after the collision. But another state patrolman caught up to her and made a stop.

Meanwhile, Weber was checked by aid personnel at the scene and cleared. With “very minor injuries,” he continued his shift, processing Bartley's arrest.

He did not stop Bartley, but did take over the arrest after the stop.

The WSP reported that Bartley was wearing her seat belt, but drugs or alcohol were involved. She was arrested on charges of DUI, hit-and-run and reckless endangerment.
