Moses Lake man changes plea to guilty in shooting

EPHRATA - A 21-year-old who allegedly shot a man in the head after using methamphetamine, changed his plea to guilty of attempted murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Jordan Wiester pled guilty as an accomplice in the attempted murder of Dale Olmos who was shot in the head in Dec. 2013.

Grant County Prosecuting Attorney Angus Lee said that the two witnesses in a car with Wiester both said that he was the shooter.

Lee said that Wiester will be sentenced on March 4 and faces a sentencing range of nine to 15-1/2 years. He said that his office would recommend the maximum.

According to a previous Herald article, the shooting occurred in a field near Hiawatha Road and Road 5 Northeast.

After existing the vehicle, Wiester, Olmos and a juvenile got into an argument. At some point Wiester allegedly went back to the vehicle, got a gun and shot Olmos. The group then drove away.

According to police reports, Wiester showed someone a small pistol days before the shooting. The pistol is believed to be the same gun used in the shooting.

Gilbert Williamson who was a passenger in the car, pled guilty to his role in the incident and will receive drug treatment as a part of his sentence, according to Lee.
