MOSES LAKE - This weekend's Columbia Basin Bridal Expo might make planning a wedding a little easier for brides in the area.

More than 50 vendors, including photographers, caterers and dressmakers, will be at the annual expo this year, said coordinator Tera Redwine.

It's all the experts that brides and grooms need to talk to when they're planning their big day, all under one roof, she said.

Close to 1,500 people attended last year's event at Big Bend Community College.

"It was a packed house last year, and we're expecting to have the same turnout this year," said Redwine.

The 2014 Bridal Expo takes place at the college's ATEC building Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission to the event is free.

Redwine said there are about $1,000 worth of door prizes that will be given away throughout the expo.

Two style shows are planned for 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., and will showcase bridal attire for women, men and children.

"The style shows are all about great fashion," she said.

Redwine said although the event is called the bridal expo, you don't need to be a bride-to-be to attend the event. With everything going on at the expo, it makes it a great fit for women in general, she said.

"It's a great way to spend the afternoon with your friends and have a girl's day out," said Redwine. "You can sample wines, spirits and hors d'oeuvres and look at jewelry and clothes- it's definitely the place you want to be."

There will also be hair and makeup demonstrations throughout the day, which will be fun for non-brides as well, she said.

"You definitely don't have to be a bride to have fun at the bridal expo," said Redwine.

She said plans are already underway for next year's expo to cater even more to women in addition to brides. Although the show will still mainly be a bridal show, guests can also think of it as a women's show.
