MLHS girls win on Senior Night, 55-27
MOSES LAKE - Seniors on the Moses Lake High School girls basketball said goodbye to the home crowd on a high note by beating the Eisenhower Cadets 55-27.
The seniors played well on Senior Night, as Emily Olson scored 15 and Hailee Bishop scored nine.
The Chiefs began the game ice cold from the field by shooting 0-8, and did not score their first basket until 1:35 left in the first quarter.
The Chiefs' press defense was relentless and never allowed the visiting Cadets to get into a rhythm on offense.
"It's an always thing for our girls," said head coach Matt Strophy. "They're always diving on the floor after loose balls, always giving a great defensive effort."
The Chiefs continued to struggle shooting the ball much of the second quarter, but their hustle and great defense kept them in the game.
They closed the half on a 15-3 run and never let off the gas.
Strophy said he was very proud of his seniors and rewarded them for their four years' of commitment by allowing them to start the game and rack up significant playing time.
Strophy noted that this game was a preview of Friday's first round divisional playoff game, where the Chiefs will again face the Cadets.
