ROYAL CITY - Riley Lefler scored 21 points and Aaron Johnson had 14 on Saturday, but they weren't enough offense for the Royal Knights to avoid a 64-50 loss to Kiona-Benton on the final night of SCAC East basketball play.

On Friday, three Knights scored in double figures, and Royal still came up short, 60-54, against Warden. They finished the season with just one SCAC victory.

"I look forward to moving forward this summer," coach Pete Christensen. "We will be back strong next year. This has been a fun group of guys to work with."

The highlight of the weekend was the improved scoring of Riley Lefler. He led the team with 18 points against Warden

"Riley has really come on the last few games to score closer to what he is capable of," Christensen said.

In addition to scoring, Lefler and Johnson led the rebounding against Ki-Be with six and five boards respectively

In the Warden game, Johnson had 12 points, and Teddy Mead had 13. Mead led in rebounds with eight. Lefler, Johnson, Kaden Jenks and Jonathan Partida had four rebounds each

"The score was a lot closer, but we ended up having to foul in the end to try and close the gap," Christensen said.
