Wilson Creek voters approve M&O levy

| February 14, 2014 5:00 AM

WILSON CREEK - Voters in the Wilson Creek School District easily approved a two-year maintenance and operations levy in a special election Tuesday.

Voters cast 86 yes votes to 40 no votes for 68 percent approval in unofficial results. The levy will generate about $260,000 per year, and will cost property owners an estimated $3.95 per $1,000 of assessed property value.

The levy passed with almost 70 percent of the vote, even though the relatively lower property values put a relatively heavier burden on property owners, Wilson Creek Superintendent Monte Redal said. "We're very pleased that the community is as supportive as they are," he said.
